The stakes

The Alps are at a turning point.

The Alps are warming twice as fast as the global average. Glaciers are retreating at an unprecedented pace, alpine ecosystems are changing, and local communities are adapting to a new reality. Alpine Quest 2 offers a journey through this transformation — through sport, science and education.

“Seeing what is changing first-hand — to better tell, better understand and better act.”

The three pillars

Sport. Science. Education.

01 — Sport

Endurance as a method

Crossing the Alps under our own power. By bike, over mountain passes, over time — to observe the terrain at the rhythm of the body. Sport is not the goal; it is our method for encountering the landscape and its changes.

02 — Science

A mobile observatory

In partnership with the University of Lausanne, CREALP and GMBA, we monitor two sentinels: glaciers and alpine biodiversity. Each stage becomes a point of observation.

03 — Education

A generation engaged in the field

With the Water Family Association, we are developing an educational programme where young people join the expedition, take part in citizen science and bring alpine issues into schools and communities.

The route

From Briançon to Kranjska Gora.

A pan-Alpine crossing connecting the French Alps to the Slovenian Alps. Four countries, more than thirty passes, nine glaciers studied. Each stage combines physical effort with scientific observation of the alpine environment.

What we have already achieved

Alpine Quest 1 — proof through action.

In 2025, Alpine Quest 1 crossed the Alps from Vienna to Monaco in 54 days. A first edition that brought together a 100% female team, mobilised leading scientific partners and gave rise to an internationally awarded documentary.
